Hannah's school had a picnic in the park for the Pre3 and Pre4 kids. The kids had a lot of fun playing at the "big" park:



Hannah started a bean plant a couple of weeks back at school and it finally started to develop:

And then the cat(s) ate it. :( I tried to prop up Mr. Bean Plant with a pencil but I think it's beyond the point of saving:



Saturday we went to the mall to see Mickey Mouse OR Minnie Mouse. The characters alternated so there was no guarantee which one you would get to meet. Hannah wanted Minnie and I thought for sure Carter would love to see Mickey. Well, after a little over an hour waiting we get five minutes from the front and Minnie switches with Mickey. Hannah was devastated. Carter was completely TERRIFIED of Mickey. He was also terrified of the Easter Bunny which I didn't even think about until after the Mickey experience. I think I'll now remember that he hates costumed people.



Later on Saturday night we were all hanging out at my Parent's house. Tom was at work and my Brother and his wife just ran to the grocery so it was just my parents and I with all five kids. Hannah, Carter and my niece Jordan are playing in the yard. They are running from Carter who had the hose and just laughing and playing. When the girls wanted to out run Carter or take a break they would come in the screened in porch. I was sitting on the porch keeping an eye on them when my niece comes through the door. A little wind catcher thing (very light) falls off and bumps right next to her. We both look at each other and laugh since that seemed weird. Not two seconds later Hannah comes through the door and in an instant a kerosene lamp from the shelf above the door falls off and slams right on to her head. I screamed. Glass went everywhere and both girls started crying. We get them both out of the glass and start checking Hannah who by now has blood running past her ear and down her neck. I find the cut on her head and knew instantly that she needed some stitches. My niece is inconsolable and just keeps saying over and over again, "Hannah, Hannah, Hannah...."  Hannah is crying and telling me she is so scared to get stitches and that she doesn't want to leave her cousins. It was pandemonium. As I'm caring Hannah down the stairs to leave she tells me she needs to use the bathroom. We are heading to the powder room and Carter who is crouched on his knees is spraying water into the house! There was a good quarter-inch of water from what I could quickly see. I yell for my Dad to get Carter since I'm helping Hannah.

Mom and I rush out the door and proceed to spend the next five hours waiting and dragging the whole miserable experience out for Hannah. I got her to calm down by showing her my thumb scar where I had about four stitches put in when I was only 2. Ironically, I reminded her that Gampie had stitches that morning and now he is doing just fine. Finally the hospital finds 15 minutes of time to give us to slap three stitches on her head. Around 11:00 at night we finally make it home. We all ate dinner and not long after went to bed. Phew!

Thank God she is fine and nothing more serious happened. My family has the weirdest luck. Glass falls out of a clock and cuts my Dad's leg at the bed bath and beyond which resulted in four stitches and not four hours after he was stitched up Hannah has a kerosene lamp fall on her head and gets three stitches. Bizarre!

The Week of Y

May 7th-11th

The school year is closing in on us!

Wednesday I took the girl's for their well check ups. They both received three shots each and did very well with it. Amelia now weighs 16 lbs 10 ozs and is 26" long. They are both doing excellent!

I had a lovely Mother's Day, probably the best one ever. I'm so blessed to have such an awesome family.

The Week of X

April 30-May 4:

I had been dreading the week of X since the beginning of school...show and tell was going to be awfully hard! We ended up printing pictures off the internet (thanks google images!) one of an "X-ray Fish" and an "Xanus' Hummingbird."

We baked cookies and while we were waiting for the oven to heat up, Carter disappeared. When I called him he came...out of the kitchen. I go in to find that he took a bite of nearly half the cookie dough shapes before we had the chance to pop them in the oven. I thought it was hysterical but Hannah was less than amused ;)



I got a hair cut and changed my color to a "normal" color. My department at work released a new dress code policy with the addition of hair styles and colors. I took the subtle hint that they didn't enjoy my purple bangs near as much as I did!



Carter's new favorite thing is to wear anything on his head:



Hannah had a play date with her "best friend." It's amazing how well they play together and they talk about each other all the time (in a positive light) when they are not around. Her Mom and I have been friends since we were kids and she once lived in the same neighborhood. I think it's a blessing that we have daughters that are one month apart and get along swimmingly!

The Week of W

4/23-4/27

Tuesday's craft was a surprise for Mother's Day so I'll be waiting to see what present Hannah has made for me.

Poor Molly the dog went to the groomers. I trucked in with all three kids to pick her up (that was quite the adventure in its self) and peek over the wall to see this:



For some strange reason she has a lion cut?!?!?! I asked them to shave her down, meaning, take ALL of her fur off.  This was not so. I still get a chuckle when I walk past her, it's been 6 days.

I also discovered this week that my roof is still leaking. I'm so glad I spent all of my free time sanding and painting. As it literally rained the Sunday night that I finished painting. Welcome to my life.

Amelia is sitting up on her own and has become much better with taking bites from her spoon and KEEPING it in her mouth, phew!

4/16-4/20

This week was filled with finally sanding the ceiling & walls and then painting said ceiling & walls. To make it even more fun I painted with three different paint colors because I enjoy torturing myself ;)  Friday after work I hung out with my best girl friends for a well deserved steak dinner, followed up with some Target shopping. Fun times, fun times.

 

Easter Break

This Easter my Mom was in town for the weekend from Shreveport. We had our normal Easter dinner and egg hunt on Saturday so Mom wouldn't miss out.

Sunday , Tom, the kids and I went to church. The kids enjoyed the egg hunt and breakfast, after church we headed home. We enjoyed an Easter pot roast made by your's truly. It was definitely a different feel to Easter with Mom gone the day of.

My brother celebrated his 30th Birthday this week and the very next day Tom's sister celebrated her 24th birthday.

My mom flew in Thursday night and was able to spend Easter weekend with us all. My brother had a mini vacation to Vegas to celebrate his 30th and made it home just in time to see Mama.

On Thursday I started to attend the Real Marriage bible study group at church. I might have subconsciously been avoiding joining. Even though I really wanted too, a part of me was a little scared.

Friday was a night out with my two best friends. I've come to the conclusion that martinis might be a wee bit too strong for me. This may have resulted in my best friend Emily driving me home, ahem.

Saturday we did Easter pictures and then Sunday was church. Not only did my Mom come home for the weekend but Tom by some miracle had a weekend off from work. I love when he's home on the weekends.

This was a nice quiet week. The only excitement was me getting my permanent crown put on the tooth that broke a month ago. That's probably bad that the highlight of my week was a new crown, lol!

 

Running Dreams

I want to run.

I've been quiet about that goal up until now. I think I told my husband, trainer and best friend(s). In that order. I've been trying to set a lot of goals for myself lately and that is more of a long term goal.

Part of me is ready to get out there and slowly start to get into a running groove. Another side of me is saying you are going to kill your body running at your current weight. I talked to my trainer today and he advised that I should be 10 pounds from my goal weight before I start running because I will annihilate my knees. Kind of what I thought.
So, I'll hold on to my desire to run and hopefully this time next year you'll see me RUNNING!

I've never been so excited about a goal that it going to be so challenging.

The Week of Q

We started the week celebrating Hannie's birthday! I played hookie from work and we all went out to Cracker Barrel for breakfast and then headed to Boomer's to play around for a couple of hours. The kids had a blast!



Phew, some of these letters make it hard to come up with an item for show and tell!

Hannah was very excited to share her birthday with her school friends. On Tuesday she brought in homemade cupcakes and treat bags that we had put together. She picked a lollipop from the treasure chest and had class picture day. Needless to say she had a very busy and exciting day Tuesday!

While Han was at school, Tom and I went to his Mom-Mom's service. I am very grateful that my Bestie was able to watch Carter and Amelia for us while we went.

My Mama came home for the weekend on Thursday night! Yay! Since I had off Friday I drove to Philly to pick her up. As she's getting in the car I see a parking cone. I asked her if she thought we'd clear the cone and she agreed. As soon as I pull off I hear a scraping noise and it sounded like we had a flat tire. Then the car stops, oh boy. I slammed the car into park, then back into drive and gunned it. It drives, phew! I pull into the short-term parking and jump out to look at the car. THE PARKING CONE! Somehow I ran over a different parking cone that I never even saw and it was jammed so bad I thought I might have needed to jack the car up to get it out. After a few fits of laughter I finally heman-ed the cone out and we were on our way!

Friday we went to American Girl as a family (My Mom, My Brother, His Wife and girls, Tom, Hannah and I). I know my Mom enjoyed spending the time with her kids and the older grand kids. My doll of a sister-in-law, Karly,  stayed behind to watch Carter and Amelia (I just love her). We had a great time doll shopping and having lunch in the American Girl Bistro. The food was super yummy and the cute things for the dolls to "eat" with were too cute!



Saturday Hannah and I spent time together at the salon. I changed my color to purple, lavender and pink in the front and Han got a trim and her hair curled. Her curled hair reminded me of Shirley Temple!



It was a VERY busy week!
