This is what I heard all day from none other that my sweet little baby girl, humph! Mean as a snake she is.
At first I quietly laughed to myself. Little kids saying inappropriate things in the right context gets me every time. I know, real mature on my part. She was saying it sassy towards Tom and I, yelling it really because she always seems to be yelling about something. Then after her bath someone had knocked on the door. I was trying to lotion her and get her PJ's on when the dog starts barking at the mysterious knocker. I refrained from yelling shut up to the dog since Hannah would hear me and start saying it more. Well it didn't take long for her to yell down at the dog from my bedroom, "SHUT UP!" Then proceeded to tell the dog to shut up about twenty more times. It was pretty funny, of course I did discipline her because I don't want her yelling shut up and stop it to everyone she sees.
Later that night I called my Mom and asked her if Dad said shut up or stop it to Hannah while she was there Sunday night and Monday morning. She immediately starts to laugh because she can see where I am going with this. Of course my Dad denied saying it but I'm still suspicious. I have heard her tell her to "Shut it up" or the "Shut up that wailing." I'm on to him, lol!
"Stop it" I know she got from Tom and I because she hears that and "No" about 47,000 times a day to no avail. She honestly doesn't listen at all to discipline. She'll cry for a minute or so and after that she'll go right back to doing it. I've tried swatting her butt, swatting her hand, time out, removing her from the area. She will not be fazed. I was advised to pinch her inner thigh but that makes me kind of nervous. I absolutely hate being pinched and can't quite bring myself to do that to her. Part of me says it is just her age and she'll listen better when she gets older. Is this true for the most part or am I being a bit of a softy? What are things that you have tried with your kids? I am up for any input on what has worked for other people out there.

We Are Such A Close Knit Family...
This whole situtation makes me chuckle...
Back around Thanksgiving my Great-Aunt Cookie called to tell my Dad that his Aunt Bea was about to pass and that she was very sick due to her cancer. Well Dad wasn't home so I talked to Aunt Cookie and she asked me to tell Dad so I did. It dawned on me after our phone conversation that Aunt Cookie didn't know I was pregnant. Mostly everyone asks me the typical pregnant woman questions everytime they see me so I figuered she didn't know because she never asked "How are you feeling." I know I am a weirdo but bare with me.
So when Dad comes home I told him what Cookie said and he seemed like he really didn't care. He said something along the lines of, "I'm not that upset about it, I never cared for the way she treated her kids." So that was that. Then I said, "Daddy, did you ever tell any of them that I am pregnant?" He said, "You did at the family reunion." Which I had to then explain that I didn't know I was pregnant then because I took the test when I came back from Missouri. "Oooooh, well I guess they don't know then. But, your Mom probably told Cook."
Well no one told anyone anything! Can you freakin' believe that? My dad's side of the family didn't know I was with child. Considering my Aunt Judy asked me if I was going to adopt at some point in time I feel it is best that people know that I am indeed pregnant and will most likely not be adopting. So that we can slow down the family rumor mill just a tad.
Well hopefully everyone knows now because I sent a little note out in my Christmas cards that we are expecting a baby girl, etc, etc.
This is all very typical of my family, divorces, babies, marriages, deaths all just seem to be stumbled upon in this family. No one ever calls and tells you anything except good ole' Aunt Cookie-she atleast makes an effort to keep you informed. Then you just have to hope my Dad relays what she tells him to the rest of us!

This Is Why I Love Him...
Today there was a parade on Main Street in the town of Newark. My eldest niece was in it, but I wanted to stay home and not freeze my ass off so I stayed home. I called my mother later in the day to see how everything went. The proud grandmother that she is went on about my niece and how cute she was in the parade, I can't wait to see the pictures!
Then she tells me about my dad...
There was, for some reason that I have yet to grasp, a political demonstration of sorts in the parade. Mom said there was three people dressed up, one was Bush, one was Cheney and one was Condoleezza. They were chained together in prison shackles and had war crime and other things written on there back. Apparently they were booing and my dad yells: "And boo to you too!" and the boo-er yells back "What did you say" and my dad yells back "I hope you trip!" Now I would have paid to seen this, I probably would have pissed my pants laughing. Why they had this demonstration of sorts in a family parade, I will never know. But don't be surprised to find that a republican will take offense and say something to you. Hell, I was offended. But when my mom proceeded to say that the democrats were handing out candy and dad refused to take it, I lost it! His exact words were I won't eat this "damn democratic candy." I was literally laughing for a good five minutes. I am so much like my dad it is scary.

Humor From The Weekend...
Here is a couple of humorous quotes and stories from this weekend...
(L and I in the car she is driving about 70 or so in a 55, we pass a cop car that is looking for speeders and he doesn't come after us)
L: "Apparently he is looking for people in the 80-100 range."
(Parents and I are eating dinner Sunday night, I was mainly talking to my mother and told her my back has been hurting from not walking due to the rain.)
Dad: "Don't you have a rain-suit"
Me: "I am not walking in the rain!"
Tom: "Yeah, she wants to join the gym in the winter because she doesn't want walk in the cold."
Tom: "All she needs to do is layer up."
Mom: "Tom, have you started walking too?"
Tom: "No"
Followed by fits of laughter
(On Friday I was at the spa for mybrazilian regular maintenance)
The aesthitician tells me to go ahead and get undressed from the waist down and jump on the table. She shut the door and left me to undress. I am half naked and hop on the table and it swivels out and rubs hard against my leg and butt. It hurt really bad and I cursed myself for forgetting the table swiveled. There was nothing to do but laugh. Then I realized that I ripped the cloth slightly in half while I was trying to hold on for dear life. I then prattled through the cabinets looking for a new cloth to no avail! What the heck can I just have a normal waxing without some embarrassing moment? Maybe this is a sign!

Dad-isms
"It's slicker than frog snot."
or
"It's slicker than possum shit."
These two seemed appropriate due to the inclement weather we are having today.
